Palsaik Korean BBQ

Hello hello!

Feel like I'm very very outdated in my food journey because after hearing countless compliments and looking at countless instagram pictures, I've finally decided to give Palsaik Korean BBQ a try! Always wanted to try it out but was so distracted by God knows what BUT when it opens up a branch at Sunway Giza, I knew that finally I'm gonna make myself go there and since I go Sunway Giza frequently enough, there is NO WAY I'll get distracted this time!

Tried it out and definitely blog post worthy yo!

I think Palsaik opened up in Sunway Giza mall 2 months ago and since I been meaning to try it out, jumped up and down when someone suggested to go there lol. Forgone my favorite Japanese food man! *blows air out of nose to show determination*

Went there for the famous 8 flavors of pork of course! I guess everyone who went there ordered their specialties.

A glimpse of set menu

Think the RM 108 one does not have all 8 flavors so we opt for the RM 128 one and I had half of bowl of rice (Chinese fan tong needs rice one lol). There was 4 of us and I think it was adequately filling. It wasn't a crazy full kinda thing but it makes you feel full like... just right.

The set came with a seafood soup.

It was not so much an instant soup because you actually get quite some seafood in there. Crabs, prawns, squid, clams and mussels are boiling in the soup. The soup is quite tasteless at first for sure but as the essence of the seafood starts to merge as one with the spicy soup, the taste is incredible. But when I say spicy, it wasn't too crazy spicy until your tongue feel the burn kind. It's drink-able! lol

Vege to wrap the meat and Kimchi up

There's also some appetizer.. This is why I love Korean food, they give you refillable appetizers! haha #kiamsiapchinese

Some salad which are refillable I think

Kimchi

Okay this was quite spicy. Spicier than the soup. It's very nice when mixed with the vege and pork tough!

INTRODUCING THE MAIN STAR OF THE NIGHT!

TAADAAAAAAA

There's a total of 8 different kinds of flavors marinated with the pork and you're supposed to enjoy them from the leftmost flavors to the right. The flavors go from light to heavy so if you start from the heaviest flavors then you wouldn't do justice to the light flavored ones.

From the lightest flavor it was Ginseng-> Wine-> Pine Leaves

Ginseng
I quite like the very subtle taste of the Ginseng. It wasn't a loud attack of bitter Ginseng that I expected but I quite enjoy the humble bitterness that makes the pork very refreshing and yummy!
Wine
Not a fan... A bit like Chinese marinated pork lol
Pine Leaves
This is my NUMBER ONE favorite flavor! It's almost like Ginseng but even more refreshing than that. The leafy taste goes really well with the pork. It's as if like you're eating on an open grass field.

Next up Garlic -> Herb

Garlic
This is good too! Hello BBQ Garlic prok! Can you imagine the burst of flavors?!
Herb
Perfect for those who likes very grassy taste kinda herb I guess haha. It tastes like Basil in my honest opinion. I think a lot of people would fancy this

Curry-> Miso Paste-> Hot

This is where I discovered that I have a very light flavored palette haha. These 3 didn't appeal to me as much as the first few flavors.

Curry
Faint curry taste.. I guess Malaysians are very pampered with strong curry fragrance so when the taste didn't came out as strong. But still, curry is good!
Miso Paste
This one tasted like our normal pork dipped in the normal Korean BBQ sauce. So it's a familiar taste for Korean BBQ lovers
Hot
I give you my word that it DOES NOT BURN! It's not crazy spicy like the Korean Spicy Noodle so just eat it without hesitation yo!

While it's sizzling

They first torture you with the sense of smell

I'm sorry I don't have any well charred pork pictures because I ate them all (this sounds like a dog shamming sign board wtf). But every bite on the different flavors of pork is like a surprise to your tongue. You will not know what to expect and the the taste will be so different from the previous one. It's like YOU KNOW....
THEY'RE BBQ PORK
But the mysterious flavor that comes out next keeps intriguing you, wanting more and more, in anticipation.

If you ask me, yes it's worth the price. Especially how each flavors give you a new experience, it is like a game but on the dinner table. It is not merely a gimmick because they do taste GREAT! Not something you go to because it's "interesting but the taste s bleh". Really, if you want something new, try Palsaik and you won't regret it!

That's my food review for now! Be back sooner than you'll notice!

Cheerio!
